The U.S. is “totally prepared” for “devastating” military action against North Korea should that be necessary, President Donald Trump declared Tuesday, further ratcheting up tensions between the two nations.
“If we take that option, it will be devastating,” Trump said during a joint press conference from the White House Rose Garden with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.
“That’s called the military option; if we have to take it we will,” the president said, adding that while it was not the preferred course, the U.S. was nonetheless “totally prepared for it.”
Trump said the time had come for the world “to isolate the North Korean menace” and dictator Kim Jong Un for “behaving very badly” and “saying things that should never ever be said.”
