Emergency services dealing with an incident near Westgate Road

At least six people have been injured after a car mounted a pavement a ploughed into a crowd of people outside a sports centre in Newcastle.
The car is said to have six people, including three children, during a gathering outside Westgate Community College for Eid to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

Northumbria Police have arrested a 42-year-old woman but do not believe the incident is terror-related.
A spokesman said the vehicle collided with pedestrians on a pavement at around 9.14am.
He said: ‘Police enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened but, at this time, it is not believed to be a terror incident.
‘Emergencies services are currently at the scene and six casualties have been confirmed.
‘Police have arrested a 42-year-old woman who is currently in police custody.’
