Multiple people including children have been hurt after a car crashed into a crowd gathering for Eid prayers in Newcastle.
Three children were injured as a result of the collision which police said is not believed to be terror-related.
A 42-year-old woman has been arrested.
Emergency services were dispatched to the site of the collision on Westgate Road, near Westgate Community College, shortly after 9am this morning
A police spokesperson said: “On Sunday June 25, at approx 9.14am Northumbria Police received reports that a vehicle had collided with pedestrians outside of Westgate Sports Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne.
“Police inquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened but, at this time, it is not believed to be a terror incident.
“Emergency services are currently at the scene and five casualties have been confirmed.
“Police have arrested a 42 -year-old woman who is currently in police custody.
