Turkish authorities have arrested an Australian citizen who is believed to be a top recruiter for ISIS, the Australian government said on Saturday.
A man named Neil Prakash, who has been linked to various Australian-based attack plans, was arrested in Turkey.
The man is being interrogated by Turkish authorities, according to an email statement by a government spokesperson.
“The arrest of the person we believe is Prakash is the result of close collaboration between Australian and Turkish authorities,” said the spokesperson.
Prakash, who was born in Melbourne, appeared in ISIS videos and magazines. He has been actively recruiting Australian men, women and children and encouraged terrorist acts, said the Australian government in May.
